Frequently asked questions

Will it look exactly like the PDF?

It keeps the text and basic paragraph structure, but not the exact layout, columns or images. It is meant to give you editable text quickly, not a pixel-perfect copy.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

No, because a scan has no text to extract. For scans, use the OCR tool first to get the text, then paste it into the document editor.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The text is extracted in your browser and the Word file is built locally. Nothing is sent to a server.

Which Word format do I get?

A real .docx file that opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs and LibreOffice.
