Frequently asked questions

Which Word formats does it support?

It supports modern .docx documents (Word 2007 and later). Old .doc files cannot be read directly in the browser: open them in Word or LibreOffice and save them as .docx to convert them here.

Why does it use the browser print?

Since this is a 100% in-browser tool, we generate a nicely formatted view of the document and open the print dialog, where you choose "Save as PDF". This way the file is created on your device without needing any server.

Is my document uploaded to the internet?

No. The .docx is read and converted inside your browser. The content is never sent to any server, so it is completely private.

Is the exact Word formatting preserved?

The main elements are preserved (headings, paragraphs, bold, lists, tables and images). The layout may vary slightly from Word, since the final layout is applied by your browser when printing.
